New Test Version - 3.5.1b - Spanish and other updates

Post by Rollie »

Here's a new version to check out:

http://www.warcraftrealms.com/censusmod ... 3.5.1b.zip

Things of note:

-- You can now do a regular /who while census is running. It will queue the command and run it the next chance it can.

-- Audible sound when census is complete (I still need to add an option to remove this) The option is PER CHARACTER

-- Moved the Verbose option to a PER CHARACTER option

-- Added Spanish translation - Props to Nekromant of EU-Zul'jin for help with the translation

You can still submit data with this version.

Was talking with Ceto a bit tonight and got to thinking about the /who functionality. Turns out when done this way, it works pretty well. The only thing I'm not sure of is that it immediately continues on with Census, and I'm not sure if it should automatically pause the census until you tell it to resume. Let me know your thoughts.

Tomorrow I'll add an option to turn the Census Complete sound off/on. I just wanted to get this out there to let folks start banging on it! So let me know if you have any problems!

Thanks!

While the /who is a nice start... I feel that the way /who operates is causing some issues. Since the results of a /who are passed to the 'Who List' (press O and click on Who tab), when Census is resumed the results of your /who gets covered by the results from the Census scan.

A suggestion would be to either show a popup box with the option to resume Census once you are finished looking at your /who results. Or perhaps send the results of a /who to a new window similar to your Char List results window that opens up when you click on the Show Chars button inside Census.

Also you can't type your search query into the Who List window. You have to type /who <whatever> to get it to queue.

Another suggestion, which I made in another thread, is when you do a command like /who 60 priest, and its a busy time on the realm your results will most like be more than 50. So I was thinking that if the results are over 50, then CensusPlus can take over and perform its own /who command, such as:
/who 60 human priest
/who 60 night elf priest
etc...
The results will then be passed to a new window similar to the Show Chars list that opens up. You now have a complete list of ALL lvl 60 priests currently online. And are not limited to just the random 50 that show up.

I love the Verbose per character, great addition!

Audible sound... Well I keep my in game sound off, so its not an issue with me. But an option to turn off the Audible sound would be nice.

And since I use the English version, I can't check out the Spanish Localization.

So just the /who thing needs to be worked on a bit more. Its a start! Just need the ability to look at our results for longer than 2 seconds.

Turns out I was just not attacking it the right way. After talking with you for a bit, it tickled my brain a bit and I thought of another way to do it.

DM -

Thanks for the suggestions. I will see what I can come up with =)

When I do /whos I mostly do them when someone is being obnoxious in general chat or if I get a whisper for a summon. I have yet to try it out, but I think this new function will work nicely for me. I really don't do whos to analyze the list of people in it, so it covering it back up a moment later wouldn't be a problem. I am going to download it now and try it out though.

Sounds good, I'll download it later! Out of interest, would allowing /whos to work, work with a mod called CorpseInfo (http://www.curse-gaming.com/en/wow/addo ... einfo.html) that automatically does a /who on any corpse you mouseover? I run that on my priest and paladin so I can do drive-by resses on any corpses that are actually logged in, but obviously having Censusplus running ~75% of the time means it's currently not a lot of help! :)

Probably not. I imagine the way they do their submission is a direct SendWho command which I can't capture (that I'm aware of).

If however they are creating a slash command and then sending, then yes, it would work.

Been testing it a couple of days now, I love the way it says how long a census took when it completes, nice touch there!

Verbose mode settings don't seem to be saving for me; I'm positive I turned it on on all my servers yesterday, but I'm on my 4th server today and have had to turn it back on on all of them.

Was going to say I'm not getting a sound on census end but then I remembered I turned all sounds off because the background sounds were annoying me when I was censusing on my laptop ;) Now I find it does indeed work, good sound too, won't get confused with any ordinary background noises I think :)

I think this was added in 3.5, never made it to the changelog tho.

Another suggestion I have for the pausing, is that Census should pause when someone does a /who search, as it does now. The results will be shown in the Who List. Now as long as this Who List window remains open Census should be paused. Once the window closes then Census should resume. I'm not sure if there is a way to monitor this window for opening and closing, but if there is then this would definately be one way to let people view their /who search results for as long as they want without Census interefering. Once its closed then Census goes back and does its thing. If the window were to be opened again when Census is scanning then nothing happens and you will just see the results of the regular Census scans.

Yeah, good call. Ceto had also mentioned that. I'll have to dig to see if I can catch the close message.

I'll follow up on the Verbose saving too. Thanks for pointing it out, I prob didn't even really test that one =x

Interesting thing with the Verbose mode saving is some servers had it saved but most did not... I have no idea why that's the case, but if it's any help all my French and German servers did not have it saved while a few of the English ones did... also on returning to the French servers (same logged-in session in the game) some have remembered but others haven't. Confusing to say the least ;)

Wow I am testing out the new version and I love it. The sound is distinctive, the whos being available during the census is great and I love how it shows the length of the census. For me this is a nice addition!

Spanish version works very well, no issues found yet. Thanks for the localization!
