I am just curious how our tickets are generated for the contests. Now that I took a closer look at it my tickets didn't seem as random as I would think they should be.
Basically my last 25 tickets go in numerical order from 7425-7458, and almost 70 tickets in the 7000-7458 range while the 1000, 2000, 3000,4000,5000 have 1-5 tickets.
I figure it should at least generate numbers more evenly through the range so that I have 15 tickets in each denomination of 1000,2000 etc...
I know it probably wouldn't change the outcome, but personally I would feel that I had more of a chance of winning in my mind.

Basically I create a list of folks and how many tickets they have earned. I then start randomly handing out tickets to users. When user gets a ticket, the number of tickets they will get decreases. So the randomization will tend to cause what you have seen. I do have another method I could use to divy tickets and maybe I'll try that next time around to see if I can get a more uniform distribution.
BTW, did you look closely at the 2nd round of tickets drawn?

I am just glad the winning number wasn't between 7425-7458 or I would be really looking like an idiot.

Statistically speaking, tickets 1000-1009 have the same odds as 10 random tickets spread throughout 1000-10000. But yeah, our minds don't always think in those terms, so a random spread does seem "better" to the eye.
Congrats on your win, Eyeball.

Lookin' like the last two won't be claimed.
Rolling again Rollie? And please, disqualify Eyeball.

He doesn't deserve more than 2 months.

Yes, definately the same person won't be able to win in the same month. I still have to decide on quarterly or what though.
And yes, if the other 2 are not claimed by Friday at midnight CST, I'll reroll again. I get the feeling that lots of submitters don't really pay attention to any other areas of the site, hehe.
I might have to add something to draw their attention if they visit the site in some fashion.

Considering one of the first things that one sees when they visit the site right now is "Unannounced October Contest" you'd think they'd look into it more.
I wonder how many of the winning tickets are from someone uploading like three times and getting bored with it. Not that I can see how that could happen, but eh.
