Hey! I'm new to WoW and I'd like to know what are the suggested servers, I mean the good ones. I have difficulties chosing a server. PvP or PvE, I just want your opinions.

Thanks in advance

What are you looking for? Older server, younger server, PvP, PvE??? There are really no true "bad" servers.

Old or new, what's the difference? hmm about pvp or pve I would go pvp.

I want a server with a balanced pop and a server that will not force me to reroll in 2months.

New servers will have more people near your level, as most other people are still fighting for 60.

Old servers (real old) will likely have established economies and a number of large raiding guilds doing MC or higher. If the server is PvP, there will probably be more bored high level people ganking your lowbie self.

As for server suggestions, I can't help there. There are so many to choose from...

Pick a server with a decent amount of people on it. Then choose from the ratio of alliance to horde. If you are going PVP you should definitely be horde. Horde are ALWAYS outnumbered at least in my experience. Horde usually win BGs if you want to get a rank in the honor system. Horde are also better at PVP than alliance because they have shamans and their racials are WAAY better than alliances.

To get the best experience with a PVP server, try leveling on one that has been established. If you can handle the corpse running and camping(doesn't happen as often as ppl would like you to believe), then you will love an established server. The economy will be decent and as Ceto said there will be many raiding guilds that you could have a chance of getting into if raid content is your desire.

I have rerolled 4 times. And well I cannot honestly say I have ever found a server that is perfect. There is always something you take for granted on a server and then reroll to find out that your new server sucks in a few aspects. It may be helpful to pick a handful of servers and check out their forums. You could even post asking info about pvp and whatnot. Bleeding Hollow gets some ppl asking about the server and most ppl are more than willing to answer your questions. Just depends on the community. Good luck!

To the OP. I wanted to update you with the situation on Bleeding Hollow. It appears we are open for transfers to Cho'gall. I will be leaving the server and my guess is that Bleeding Hollow will become a ghost town. Funny how a good server can become a horrible one in a matter of moments.

Yeah. Incredible but I guess cho'gall was dead so they need people :P

Hmmm, Cho'gall has a pretty poor reputation and has had several attempts at transfers to it without managing to keep the population. BH has had a total of 6 transfers from it (only Warsong has had more unless I missed some) and is still a high population server, I would expect BH to remain a high pop server if for no other reason than that almost all the previous transfers have been cut off early leaving guildies on both BH and the target server. Usually a few griefers leave though hoping to be top dog on the new server and the server improves for a bit until new ones pop or the old ones slink back on a powerlevelled or purchased new toon.

Yep, but I think Bleeding Hollow will now be a ghost town. Sigh, blizzard cannot figure this stuff out. A lot of the pvpers are leaving for Cho'gall, so I bet PVP will be completely dead after the move. My guild seems a little upset that I am leaving, but when it comes down to it if I stay on Bleeding Hollow I will be quitting the game much sooner than later. I already ended my renewing subscriptions a month ago and have 2 more months to ride out. (I did the 3 month renewal)

With these transfers out, I don't know if Bleeding Hollow is a good choice. Good luck, once again.

Someone is being a jerk and stealing all of our names on Cho'gall too. Makes me kind of sad :(

Well, your choice to transfer and I wish you a lot of fun in the game I've just heard the same thing said the last 3 times there were transfers from BH so I'm a li'l jaded ;)

Name stealing always happens before transfers, either just to grief or to earn gold, unfortunately by the time an appeal would take effect it's way too late :(

Only a few transfers so far have made a real dent in the population of the high population server as far as I know and they had really horrible community and stability issues before the transfer (Sargeras griefing pact between Horde and Alliance griefers to grief all lowbies so no one could level comes to mind...)

I love my server, minus the lack of alliance. The only upside is not getting ganked constantly while leveling... with the downside being having long queue times at 60, while ally queue times are instant. If you want to play alliance and like pvp, roll on Mal'Ganis. :P

Confused...

Ok, let me get this straight... I've been confused for a few days now...

Alliance outnumber horde in the wow universe something like 3:2

Alliance outnumber horde in PvP servers marginally... (54%:46%)

Alliance Battleground queue times are very short (nil:3 hours) but they always lose (85%:15%)

so... that means... even though there are slightly more alliance than horde players in PvP servers, the alliance players don't sign up for BG because they always lose, right? that's a logical assumption?

and even though the horde are outnumbered in all areas, they smash BG.

That in turn means 1 of 2 things... That pallies are poor pvpers compared to shammies (which i'm not convinced is relevant anyway. They only make up a small percent of the population, so i can't see 8% of the battle making a massive 85%:15% swing)

-OR-

Horde racial traits are so amazingly good that the horde can rely on them to win BG.

so is that it? Do i have it right?

It's much simpler, regardless of any game mechanic balance issues or anything you have the visuals of Horde (big and mean) compared to Alliance (small and rather plain) which leads to more PvP oriented players in general being drawn to Horde which leads to everything else... Even if alliance outnumber Horde by a healthy margin on a server that only means each Horde gets more practice ;)

Actually if you look at the population of horde on each server, shaman are around 15% of the population where warriors and rogues are just slightly above them. Those that say shaman are 1 of the least played classes are looking at the numbers wrong. Those numbers you are looking at include the alliance population, which cannot be shaman. Same goes for Palladins.

The activity ratio on this site says that alliance outnumber horde by only 1.6:1

As an example, Bloodscalp is 13% shamans, Dalaran 14% shaman, Elune is 14% shaman, Runetotem is 14% shamans, and Frostwolf is also 14% shamans. Your number of 8% is just not right.

Mal'Ganis has one of the highest horde/ally ratios, and is only 12% shaman (below warriors, rogues, hunters, and even a few mages, just horde side). More than 8% though... either way, it doesn't make much of a difference. In BG's on our server, whoever has the most organized group wins. Although, usually horde pug > alliance pug, at least on my server.

I think it's for sure a poor generalisation to state that Horde "generally" wins more often than Alliance in the Battlegrounds and the result will be just as mistaken as the former hypothesis. You *can't* just know what happens in every server, or even in the majority of them and, by the way, from my personal experience Alliance wins most of the times :P.

Having a look at Stumpytheozzie's and Alanthus' posts I can honestly say I am not in any way convinced that those are the reasons if Horde (generally) wins more often in BGs...

No offence meant :).
