Off topic: Roommate dilema

Okay so I decided to get a roommate who I didn't know. Now I am in a situation I don't know what I can do. I offered the room for $375 includes heat, phone, internet. I had to re-sign my apt lease with both of us on it. The last two nights I have come home with his window wide open (its 30 degrees outside), and my house feels like a fridge even though his door is closed. I leave a semi-nasty note on the kitchen table that says the window has to be shut. He leaves a note back, and says "I pay to live here, and I will do what I want in my room, and my window open doesn't cause any heat loss cause the door is closed."
What does he think happens each time he opens his door to go to the bathroom, eat, watch tv, or whatever...the 30 degrees rushes into my room like a 100 mph monsoon.
Should I just evict him now (even though now that he is on my apt agreement I don't know how easy that would be without apt mgr approval)
Raise his rent already another 50 bucks.
Or try to talk some sense into him?

I'd just talk some sense into him, the door isn't insulated. If all else raise the rent.

Talk some sense into him... then raise the rent... then punt him like a gnome.

- Talk sense into him. Since if he leaves the window open and the door closed heat will go out (thats how I cool my room
).
- Raise his rent
- Get some friends to have a nice chat with him
- And if that doesn't help raise his rent insanely

Do some maths, work out just how much extra heating you're having to pay to make up for the heat he's wasting (be generous in your favour

), and add that onto his rent, explaining exactly what the charge is for... it might get the message across

Yeah, if the door isn't insulated a ton of heat still escapes... I know that from experience, living in not so great apartments where the doors and windows weren't insulated very well

Well I will just make him want to move out. He goes to work at 4am every day. I will just play warcraft very loud, play music while he tries to sleep, and when he complains I will say I pay to live here, and I will do what I want in my room.
