Dynamic level grouping for BG
Dynamic level grouping for BG
BG's are hardwired to 41-50, 51-60 etc. If you were to assess levels of players in the queue, you might be able to put groups together faster (assessing both horde and alliance) by doing a moving window histogram bell curve analysis, which might result in a bg that still has only a 9-level spread, but perhaps from 44 to 53. This way you avoid 2 much longer queues for lvl 41-50 and 51-60. Naturally, this will impede a players on the upper range who would have lost their 51-53 players in queue and would only have a spread of 7 instead of 9, but give a little, lose a little. This would also encourage players who are at the bottom of the food chain to play more (my priest went from being a god at BG at 50 to fresh meat at 51 so I'm not taking him back until he's 58 ot 60). WOrks the other way around too. Lvl 50 players stop levelling for a while to just PvP to get rank because they know that at 51, the fun is over. I haven't simulated the math on the algorythm but a first pass at thinking it through certainly looks promising. I understand that there will be compute times involved here and some additional though minimal load on your servers. However, wait times for BG are often intolerable and this would help - even if you only implement the algorthym in offpeak palyer hours.
