How to handle server transfers?

Post by heartless_ »

Just opening a discussion about how to track it.

1. Let the system weed them out as the census's come in and the player shows no activity after 30 days.

2. Allow people to manually input their characters names and where you sent them to. Wouldn't catch them all, but would allow for users of this site to input the transfer.

3. If a character with the same race, class, level, and name shows up on a server open for transfers from the overpopulated server... then delete it out of the data for the overpopulated server. If there is actually a character that matches on BOTH servers it should be eventually captured in another census.

Other ideas?

I really haven't put too much effort into this as I figure it will work itself out as time goes by. I don't think the number of transfers is going to be all that large anyway, but who knows. After the transfer time has passed, I could run some checks to see if there are dupes from servers (name/race/class/etc) and see about weeding from there.

Can I ressurect this thread? :P

With the European Servers Transfers running for their 4th week now (and already announced a 5th week) the Census data are outdated. For example a lot of guilds that transferred from my old server (EU-Crushridge) to the new one (EU-Genjuros) appear in both servers, so the character summary and A/H ratios are completely wrong for the old server.

Would there be a way to update these...let's say, purge those characters/guilds that seem inactive for a certain period of time as suggested before?

I just want to note that the transfers are HUGE (my new server has already 2000 ally characters and it was a fresh server when I moved two weeks ago), which makes the old server stats completely inaccurate.

cheers

As time progresses, the data will work itself out. The displays and ratios only take into account characters seen in the past 30 days. 30 days after someone transfers to another server, they will drop off all the stats for their old server.
