Not seeing myself..

Post by jmcnelis »

I've always checked out this site for info, and decided to finally start collecting for it. I just ran a census, but the character that I'm currently on, the one I ran the census on, is not in the collection! I do a "/census+ who Sarianah" (my char's name) and it comes up saying "Census+ Who: Found 0 players." Does it not pick up the character that you're currently on? Or is there something else going on? Thanks for any info!

Hello and welcome...

Your command is a bit faulty, that is what went wrong. To make absolutely sure that you yourself are included, you should type simply "/who Sarianah" (without the "s, of course) while a census is in progress. And to be honest even that is not necessary if you run a full census from 80 all the way down to 1.

Also, your character is listed as last seen 04.08.2010, so you are successfully up to date with her. :D Happy censusing! :D

Yeah, when I ran the census again, it picked her up.

The command I ran, though, was the one listed when you type /census+, and it shows you a list of different options. It was to show if someone was in the current collection. I had waited till it was finished. When it ran a few hours later, it did pick her up. Not sure why it didn't the first time, but I'm just happy I'm updated. :)

Ah, I have really not read most of the written commands... however, next time try "/censusplus who (wanted name or part of name)", that is, write the "plus", not "+" and see if that helps you... Happy further censuses!

Edit: After examining both your original post and some of my own experiments, something occured to me... The .lua is first saved when you exit the game or at least log out the character. If the command draws data from the .lua directly, as I suspect the case is.... the first time you tried the command, your character wasn't yet saved in your .lua file, explaining why she was not found. Also, ignore the earlier remark about the "plus", I must have typoed something during my earlier tests, because now using "+" works as well... :D

Apologies from a fairly tired Epic Censi... :/
