Tracking Alternates?

Post by Bowstrike »

Is there a way to track alternate characters to the main account? For instance would I be able to find out all the alternate character names related to a single account?

Thanks in advance.

Not really no =(

I wish it were possible, but alas, that it is not...

okay, this comes from a nub that dont know programing.

but play with the thought like this. You do quite a few censuses, and you gather info on what names that been online during what censuses. Then you could do a comparison just and see if 2 names for an example never appear on same census. This could of course be flawed if someone switches char during the census take. But if you allow a few "double" takes where the both char names appear in same census but otherwise no you would filter out a list from that no?

example in my brain:

char1 appears in census 1,2,3,4,5,6,8,9
char2 appears in census 3,7,10

*super coding by rollies goes into action*

Prints out info on screen:

Char1 and Char2 have a alt probability of 90%

Rollie is the genius here so go to him! stop looking at me! Im just rambling!

If census snapshots were instantaneous, and we got a lot more of them, then ya, sure, maybe =)

But as it is, heavily populated servers can take upwards of 20 minutes for one census. Plenty of time for someone to log onto multiple other alts.

That and the problem of just not enough data submissions to really capture that reliably.

Nice thinking though, I always like to hear new ideas!

Maybe could add it as a client version thingy only. Some servers are not as populated so works better for our low pop ones :)

Sorry to bump it, just find this function, INTERESTING! ;)

gj on the stuff Rollie, keep it up.
