Timer, Submission, & jUniUploader questions

Post by Lumandris »

so since the '/censusplus timer xx' option exists now, everytime I manually upload a file, am I submitting 1 snapshot or does that timer allow the CensusPlus.lua file to be divded internally so that 1 uploaded submission equals say, perhaps 7 or 8 snapshots? I'm asking because my particular server (Darkspear) has had a HUGE increase in the number of Horde submissions in the past month. My only guesses are that a) There are entire guilds mushing along and submitting data (nj btw if so), b) 1 submission equals many updates (thus, a divided file containing many snapshots ala timer) or c) there is someone out there who hasn't seen the light of day in a very long time.

The other question I have is if anyone here has used the jUniUploader application. Note: not UniUploader, which requires .NET & Windows. I'm on OS X so jUniUploader is it for me if I'm going to use that method. The wowprofilers.com site doesn't have much info regarding the setup of the Java client, especially just for warcraftrealms.com.

Thanks in advance, any help is really appreciated!

When you upload data, all the snapshots you have taken will be sent at one time. So say you uploaded one yesterday, did several snapshots today and uploaded again. The data that you uploaded yesterday plus the data that you got today will be sent.

You can view the Censusplus.lua file in some text editor and see the full contents of what is being uploaded, all the data of every char you have seen will be uploaded each time. The servers here will then filter out the data which it already has and just take the new stuff. You can then see how many chars where updated by your upload if you click on the My Characters link on the left side of the main site.

As for jUniUploader, no clue :(
I like to just upload my stuff via the site and not via a program...

Good deal, that will save me a lot of time. As for entries in the last 30 days - right now it's 42:229 Alliance:Horde. So does this mean that there have been 229 individual uploads? Or does this mean there have been a mix of individual uploads where some uploads might of contained multiple snapshots.. ? I guess that's where it's hard to believe that the ratio difference is so great...

As for jUniUploader, I'll just scrap it 8) . One less click isn't worth screwing around.

Basically the number of submissions is based on the number of complete censi that have been taken. If for example, during a play session, you take 2 complete censi, then that would count as 2 submissions.

Ahh, I always wondered about that one - nice to know how it works :) Guess that explains why the horde side on my server always suddenly leaps into the green when I'm playing there for a few days (it's yellow when I'm not), as I have it set to run every 10 minutes so that's a lot of censuses over a several hour playing session ;)
