Gold Selling
Is it me or are gold selling sites nuts since this month trying to get costumers? I got about 10 messages (in general channel), 2 mails and about 2 or 3 whispers each evening with this crap.
(Don't get me wrong, if you wanne buy gold ingame thats your thing, but just get lost with all the spam.)

Its mostly General chat spam at least once per hour on Silvermoon. They do this thing where they have one long phrase but at the beginning of the line they have a gold selling website.
I only got 1 whisper in the past few months, about gold selling. Seems like WoW is becoming so huge people are looking for alternate methods to gold farm since Blizz is cracking down on botting.
Such as the hacking that several popular websites have been through recently. Such as ui.worldofwar.net just a few days ago. In which they do what they can to get keyloggers on unsecure computers.

Might seem strange, but since my name in game starts with an A I swear it makes me the first target to get spammed. They must do a /who and my name pops up each time, so I get hit with whispers. Now my hunter's name starts with an E and I have never seen anything on her.
I would think it be the same for those that start with Z, Y, X, or W. They probably get slammed as well.

They problebly allready do so. Since I get half of my mails when I'm offline.DM. wrote:Now if they did a Census scan they would get everyone! Good thing they dont
Something I hope for is that blizzard goes undercover buying gold from such sites and instanly banning the user that sends them the gold.
Yup they are higher. More people playing the game, more people want to get their riding skills and gear quickly from places like the AH, or from guilds that offer you to pay for your gear if it drops in during a raid. Plus the methods they take now to get into your account are risky ones, which requires them to basically take advantage of any loopholes that appear on a website quickly before they can get it patched. If they get a dozen or so per website hack then they in business.

not that I would know ... a .. friend .. told me

When someone hacks into a website they will install some code which will then download a program to your computer which will monitor your keystrokes. Esp when it sees that WoW.exe is loaded into memory. It will then send this data of your keystrokes to some server which will then allow whoever it is to log into your account and take your stuff. You dont need to be registered with the website that got hacked into at all. You can simply be browsing the site looking for some data, such as quest info, or item info. While this program is being install on your computer without you knowing.
But obviously you should never use the same user id on any website as you do with your WoW account user name. This will just make things easier for them.
On Tuesday someone I met in game got their account hacked into for a second time. They were simply browsing ui.worldofwar.net a few days earlier. They first accessed the WoW Account Management website. Changed the password. Then logged into WoW, while the person was playing in AV with some friends and on Vent as well. The person just /afk'd out of AV. Flew to Gadget emptied out all the gold and items onto the neutral AH that was able to be sold, including all bank items. Logged into the other chars, and sold what could of been sold to an NPC. All the gold was mailed to other chars. Nothing was sharded, despite having a 300 Enchanting skill. Everything was sold to an NPC and the gold earned was mailed. All this was done in the span of 20mins. The including the trip from Ironforge to Gadget. All while this was happening the password was being reset and waiting for the e-mail confirmation that it was indeed reset. It took alot longer than normal for it to reset. So the gold sellers got the upper hand... And I was in the party all the time when the person was flying to Gadget, I only got a lvl 6 Alliance char on Silvermoon, and I just go on the Alliance side to talk to them instead of lvling. We tried talking to the person but they did not respond. We sent petitions to GM's but took 45mins before they responded. The other person in the party followed their every move. And the gold seller knew exactly what to do and where to go.... /sigh

Imo only usefull once since they use trial accounts and go offline within a few secconds after spamming.Forestlordx wrote:I ignore them right off the bat to get rid of the spam
I made a suggestion to the wow forums tho, maybe it helps: http://forums.wow-europe.com/thread.htm ... 20&sid=1#0
Gold spammers are NOT using trial accounts like most people believe. They make enough money to just buy real boxes so they can use the mail box and chat channels.
Trail accounts have a ton of restrictions on them because Blizzard was smart enough to know what would happen if they didn't.
http://www.blizzard.com/support/wowbill ... =abl01925p
The following restrictions are placed on all Trial Accounts:
* A level cap of 20.
* A maximum of 10 gold.
* Trade skills are capped at 100 ranks.
* Inability to trade via the auction house, mailbox, or player-to-player.
* In-game chat channels will be unavailable.
* A limit on the number of tells that can be sent.
* Realms with login queues will give priority to customers with retail accounts.
* Will not be eligible for the Paid Character Transfer service.

Edit1: (And now I can't find where I mentioned something about trial accounts

Edit2: Found it now

Edit3: Maybe I should have said that they make random usernames and that ignoring cause of that is just useless
