April 2008 Update and March Concurrency Numbers

Post by Rollie »

It's that time of the month again and we have calculated the March concurrency numbers provided by the <a href='http://www.warcraftrealms.com/censusplu ... susPlus UI Addon.

Patch 2.4 continues to prove enough to keep the majority of players still playing. Numbers are largely flat with only a slight overall decline. This comes on the heels of WoW breaking 1 Million concurrent users in China alone.

With no major content patches until the Wrath of the Lich King expansion, it will be interesting to see how many players drift away until then. There are also various other MMO's on the horizon, such as Warhammer Online and Age of Conan.

In other news, WoWInsider is reporting that WotLK is in closed alpha testing stages. I am putting my unofficial sticker on the calendar for the end of November for a WotLK ship date. Time will tell!

Maybe we should start a pool =) Sounds like a fun contest. Of course we could end up with lots of people choosing the same date.

There is still Season 4 that will come out which will keep some of the pvp oriented players latched on.

I predict that the expansion comes out 1-2 weeks before the Warhammer official release date to try to keep people from trying it. If Warhammer delays again, and the expansion is out for a month or two it's going to be alot harder to pull people away from WoW.

That's my guess as well, from what info has been released about it, they seem to be a few months ahead of where they were with TBC this time in 2006.

I forgot to mention, is there any reason why EU figures lag a month behind US ones, or is it just an error in the x axis?

Just the image it seems. If you click on the Sheet1 tab you'll see that there is a number for March.
