Bad News - Good News - Iffy News

Post by bringoutyourdead »

My emails to Metalbeast have not solicited a reply.

I have no clue what has happened with him.

It is possible that he has suffered another medical set back which has stopped him from working on the site and apparently playing the game.

--

Considering the above and that my real life workload is about to lighten up ( for values of lighten), I have decided to work on the web site coding without the guidance of Metalbeast.
(He can back out my changes if he doesn't like them)

I AM ONLY WORKING ON THE UPLOADING OF DATA TO THE SITE

CHANGES TO DISPLAY THE NEW RACES WILL HAVE TO COME AT A LATER DATE

--

I will do my best to get things running again, but considering that I haven't played WoW in years, I will need your support.
Look for postings in the addon forum and this forum for questions that I will need answers to continue the work.

Also there is no guarantee that I will get things running, as my RL work load could increase at any time.

The site has some odd ball issues in the programming.
This is due to multiple owners..programmers,
and different programming, processing priorities.

Rollie didn't have the fastest machines and he did some speed workarounds that make the richer game environment harder to process.

I made most of the mods, I think are needed to allow uploads.
opened the gate long enough to upload one test file.
then let it process.. and it processed ... ok.. except it failed to handle the new races.

I have tracked down more of the fail points and may have fixed them... the log gave a clean process of the upload.
But the new races are not yet being seen properly .. character history should be able to show the new races.

Some on slipped in two uploads while I had the gate open... those uploads are incompletely processed and the data probably is lost.

PLEASE do not upload until you see an announcement from me... or you risk losing your data.

Yes as I thought would be the case the uploads for yesterday, did not completely update.

While old race data updated ok.. the new races were silently dropped from entry into the tables.

After making the structural changes that caused the failure.. I have uploaded another test file.
Now it is waiting time for the background processes to fire off and process the upload.

As can be seen with the latest reply to the top News and Announcement forum,
census displays are now working.

There were a limited number of rejected entries for upload processing so I will be releasing a new CensusPlus addon version.
This is just a localization file update, and only impact non-English clients.
The existing versions for English language clients remain valid and do not require updating.
